Introduction: The Soul
Aloha, I’m Kakoli Deka, the hands and spirit behind Sunclaystudio.
I work quietly and intuitively, letting the clay guide me. My process is a conversation with the present moment—I don’t plan everything in advance; I go with what I’m called to create. I’m simply here to try, to create, and to share that journey with utmost reverence and gratitude.
Every piece I make is a small-batch creation focused on patience, silence, and an inward movement, with my heart radiating outward to the finished form and ultimately, to you.
The Inspiration: A Celebration
My creations are a celebration of colour, feelings, nature, and the vast cosmos.
I find inspiration everywhere: from the quiet of the hills and mountains to a street vendor's stall, from the feel of sand and shells to the simple act of petting a cat. These elements, along with a love for unexpected pops of colour, are what I bring to the table.
I love making things that are functional—pieces that can be held, felt, seen, and loved every single day. They are intended to be a joyful support system for you, helping you go about your day with a little more light.
My Promise to You
Making these pieces is my way of pursuing my deepest dream as a potter and artist. By supporting Sunclaystudio, you are supporting this dream, and my respect for that connection is truly boundless.
I put my heart on my sleeve and into every piece. My wish is that the happiness and good feelings that come from the creative process are transferred to you as you live your life alongside my pottery.
Right now is the only moment that matters. So, please, take a deep breath and spend some time holding a warm teacup on a cold day or eating ice cream out of a dessert bowl—just because you’re alive and living this awesome life.
Thank you for being here. I wish you love, light, and good luck.
